Back to Europe

In Toledo, I go in the first church I can see. The bell towers are excellent observation posts. The only thing is that you need to look at the time to avoid being surprised by the bell.

I notice the Sainte-Marie cathedral which proudly dominates the city. No need to look for another model, I can't take my eyes off her. I hesitate on the technique to use and finally choose ton paint.

Direct watercolor does not forgive mistakes. Accepting that nothing can be erased requires a certain level of composure. The paper for painting is thick, heavy and expensive: each sheet of the notebook counts as the photo negatives. I rarely allow myself a second try. This pressure is calculated, I need it to stay focused. I stopped using an eraser the day I noticed that the possibility to correct my line was allowing my mind to wander.

Direct watercolour rivets my eyes and my brain to the model, and free them only when all my muscles relax, the sign that the painting is finished.
