We are invited for a lunch at Trude’s parents, in the village of Kamerik.
We meet Trudy, Trude’s mother, and Leendert the father. Behind, houses are parked
along the canals, a green and flat landscape. We start the lunch. After a short moment
of reverence, we taste boiled eggs, gouda, all kind of bread and a greek salad (for Loukas).
Then it is time for a coffee. Trudy is knitting strips of plastic bags. Leendert, a retired policeman,
is reading his emails. During the digestive walk, he tells us the history of the village.
