In Mission Street, a temple pops up, like a colourfull cake, above motorcycle and T-shirt stores. From here, the Olympus Mount looks like an overcrowded building. Inside the temple, a musician knocks a drum, another breath in a conch, and the queues are organized in front of altars covered with gold.

 

Hinduism is the most practiced religion in Pondicherry (80% of the inhabitants), but there are also Christian and Muslim communities.
