So, let's talk about the fight.
In the shadow where we were drawing Mamadou, we had the choice between two point of view :
men in front of an orange shop, and women washing clothes. We were talking about this when a man,
messengered by the group of washerwomen, starts to yell at us.
"You do not know the law ? You are not allowed to draw people our things without authorization".
"Really ?", i said, "So if you knows the law explain me, what should I do if I want to draw a crowd" ?
"You do not need to ask, if people are not recognizable"
"Ok, I see. And if I want to draw an animal or a tree ?"
"You ask the owner".
"Oh, simple. But if I want to draw the sky for example ? Should I ask God ?"
"Well… you are a philosopher".
Then the debate starts, everyone has an opinion about the "law of drawing". I finally understand the real reason
of the fight : the women are afraid of us doing postcards with their face, and earn money with it.
I explain that we are not on the postcard business, we want to make a movie that will be projected
for free on the streets of the area. Then, it is immediately the mess, and everybody want to be drawn.
The attraction of being on the other side of the screen is international. We stay there, and chose to draw
the men in front of the orange shop, next to the venomous look of the washerwomen, half-shocked half-jalous.
