If you come in Niaguis, you will soon meet Omar. He is born here. He is a good friend of Abdul and Maëlle.
His hut is just next to the "jardins de Kassou". Actually he is building an other beautiful hut,
to host "travelers from all over the world". He works on wood, make all different kind of objects,
do sculpture. He speaks french, wolof, mandin, joola, creole, peul and mankaï. When I say that it is a lot
of language, he answers "Well, this is Casamance".

During the nineties, when the rebellion of independentists became more violent, the villages where
often attacked. Sometimes by rebels, sometimes by government soldiers dressed like rebels. Omar went
to Dakar, as most of people. Niaguis became completely empty. Then, isolated people living on the bush
started to live together in the village. Later Omar came back, but most of the exile stayed in Dakar,
and the people actually living in Niaguis where before on the bush.
